My Natural Black Hair is centered on helping Ebony women re-discover their natural hair and beauty. Greatness is happening these days, a lot of black women are steering clear of continuing to use straighteners and are now embracing their naturally curly hair with pride. This movement is impacted by several different factors and therefore we are all in different stages of rocking our natural hair. Whatever the reason may be it’s a beautiful thing to see a spike in the interest of black women in wearing their natural hair.
Wearing your hair natural might start off being an overwhelming process, however, the end results will be healthier longer hair. We’re right here to support and take you step-by-step through the process of growing and maintaining your hair. This site was created for women truly interested in educating themselves on caring for their natural hair. Check out our Transitioning area, exactly where you will discover more details regarding your options of going all-natural and guidelines to take you through the process.
My Natural Black Hair is centered around helping women learn about their own hair. There are a number of ways to style your hair beautifully without the use of damaging methods such as relaxers and perms. We’re here to show you! We are very pleased you’re looking at our site as a starting point to educate yourself on how to maintain your locks. You are invited to ask as many questions as you like and request as much information as you need.
We’re hoping you discover helpful information here while you go on your journey of maintaining and rocking your lovely natural hair.
Why is this website restricted to individual wearing their hair natural? Their are several sites regarding black hair care, naturally curly hair, extensions, etc. We wanted to create a site that was specific towards natural black women and men hair care. The lack of education about our hair has created a stigma concerning our hair for a long time. It’s time to for a change! It’s time for us to embrace our the unique, curly, kinky, and versatile hair. It’s time to remove the false beliefs that our hair is undesirable, nappy, unmanageable, and won’t grow. This belief must transform in order for more Ebony women to love and appreciate their god given beauty.
We have to understand more about our hair so that we can embrace it’s beauty. We will need to continue to see our natural texture being rocked and appreciated by black women in and out of the media.
My Natural Black Hair is centered on approval of our own hair type and unfocused on what some may believe are “drawbacks” of our hair.
Natural hair within Ebony women of all ages has been an expanding movement over the past several years and now there is a great amount of support! This site was created to be a community for Ebony women to embrace their kinky naturally curly tresses.
We’re here to help encourage, educate and help you learn to love the hair you were born with. Rock your kinky, coily, or curly hair and be proud!

love the site
I have decided to transition and do the “big chop.” I’m an all in kind of girl. I like this site so far and hope to use it as I learn my hair in its natural state.
Congrats! Thanks, hopefully you learn as much as possible 🙂
This is one of the many websites that helped me through my transition, my last relaxer was November 12th and I’m a freshman in college and i couldn’t keep up with taking care of my straightened hair… I’ve been transitioning ever since, planning on doing my big chop as soon as i get home (next week). I just wanted to say thank you so much!! You’ve helped me build up a large amount of confidence during the process 🙂
I’ve been trasitioning for 22 months now. I have about 9 to 12 inches of natural hair and about 9 inches of relaxed hair. I think I want to cut the relaxed hair off, but I’ve always had really long hair. I’ve read about shrinkage and I think my face might be too chuby for a short hair style. How much longer do you think I can transition while maintaining my length without it becoming ridiculous to keep up with?
I was diagnosed with Lichen planopilaris (a scalp condition that causes scarring of the scalp and permanent hair loss). Currently I am using a steriod shampoo every 3rd day along with a steroid scalp spray to help with the itching. Anyone else have this condition and what are you doing to cope with it?
I am not sure where you’re getting your info, but good topic. I needs to spend some time learning more or understanding more. Thanks for excellent info I was looking for this information for my mission.
I love being natural.

IM SO GLAD THAT I FOUND THIS WEBSITE…I WAS REALLY HAVING A HARD TIME WITH MY HAIR…BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN NATURAL FOR ABOUT ALMOST 2YEARS NOW…BUT I USE TO WEAR MY HAIR SHORT BUT NOW I WANT TO GROW IT OUT AND FINDING THAT ITS HARDER THAN I THOUGHT AND ITS THINNING IN THE TOP..IT HAS ACTUALLY STARTED GROWING BACK NOW…BUT I NEED HELP WITH MOISTURIZING MY HAIR AND WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE ON MY HAIR…DONT WANT ANYTHING TO EXPENSIVE….SO EAGER TO LEARN ABOUT MY HAIR…I THINK ITS A 4A… NOT SURE…PLEASE HELP ME.
Hello Angie, I’m glad you joined the community! Here is a really great article that has a list of Essence best picks for natural hair Essence Uncover Their 10 Best Products for Natural Hair. I’ve found Shea Moisture products to work well on my 4a hair and be reasonably priced 🙂
I am a white mother of three bi- racial daughters. My youngest has 3b hair that is almost exactly like mine, however, my oldest two girls have 4a hair. I am trying to help both of them transitioning. We just cut most of the relaxer of my 10 year olds hair, but my 12 year old is more comfortable with a long transition. The 10 year has very thick hair, I thought that maybe it was just me, but I let a natural hair dresser look at her hair and she said that she had the thickest hair she hd ever seen. I have been researching and researching, but this is all new…. Any advice? We are deep conditioning and using the tightly curly method right now.
Continue to do what you’re doing, research and learn as much as you can about natural hair. Carol’s Daughter and Miss Jessies both have great products for little girls. I would look into their product lines to help maintain your little ones hair. 🙂
Have you ever thought about adding a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all.
Nevertheless imagine if you added some great photos or video clips to give your posts
more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this website could
definitely be one of the greatest in its niche.
Awesome blog!
Thanks! Love the feedback. We’ll definitely consider your recommendations 🙂
Looking forward to reading more information from this website. Thank goodness I found it.
This website has a lot of great information. Ive worn weaves for 20 yrs and decided to wear my hair natural. I took my last weave down 5/17/13 and now have a twist hairstyle. I have very thin hair that is shoulder length. I am 4c type hair. I am not sure how to care for my hair and do not wan to damage it. I have started taken Biotin 5000 mcg. Is there such a thing as over moisturizing your hair? I am not sure how often to wash it or moisturize it or oil it. What products do you suggest I use on my hair? I have a couple of friends that are natural, they have very thick hair and I am not sure the products they used will be good for my hair. Please help, all suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.
Hello Tina,
There is a such thing as over moisturizing your hair. Over moisturized hair tend to look limp and may have a mushy feel. You need to make sure you keep your hair balanced with protein and avoid daily wash-n-go’s. Here are some articles to read regarding creating a hair regimen and caring for your 4c hair type 😉

Hey ya’ll! I soooo need your help and advice. I am considering going natural, and I have been for quite some time now. I am going through this self discovery part of my life. Don’t get me wrong I know who I am, but I want to know the entire me Hair included. My only dilemma is my husband. I am recently married 3/27/13 Yayy!!! LOL My last relaxer was before my wedding 3/24/13. I refuse to get any more relaxers. I am really think about doing the BC but, I am nervous about my husband loosing his attractiveness to me. Now, he supports my decisions, but I think because he has some reserve about it, its holding me back as well. Should I transition a little longer before doing the BC or just go for it. Any advice who be most helpful. Thanks in advance ladies 🙂
Hey there! I would do what makes me feel most comfortable. The sooner you do the chop, the sooner you will be able to start getting used to the new look 🙂 I’m sure your husband will find you beautiful either way. Remember in the beginning it always takes a little time getting used to. It took me a few weeks, and several compliments before I started feeling comfortable wearing my natural hair. Good luck!
Hi, sisters and bros. Keep up the good work. I am now a 1 year 1 month naturalite :)and it’s only getting better! All the best;)
