Natural shampoo recipes are simple to make and very effective. They can be used to clarify, to cleanse and even to get rid of pesky dandruff. You may have some of these ingredients in your kitchen already.
Baking soda is a wonderful clarifier. It will reduce oiliness and get rid of product build up; a nice touch for all of us product junkies out there. To make the shampoo, make a paste with 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda and a half a cup of water. Put the paste on wet hair, working it into the roots. Leave it in for five minutes and then rinse it out. You may find that any dandruff you have had to deal with previously is gone.
Apple cider vinegar works well with baking soda for clarifying. Apple cider vinegar will leave your hair soft and full, like you just used a high quality conditioner. It is also an effective detangler and will make your hair look nice and shiny. It’s best not to use apple cider vinegar at full strength, however. Use one part vinegar and one part water.
Castile soap was first made in the Castile region of Spain. This soap is completely natural and is made with olive oil. You can use this mild soap on your body as well as your natural hair. Either bar soap or liquid is suitable for use in your hair, use whatever is easier and more convenient for you.
Egg yolks are also an effective cleanser. You can use them as is or mix them with a bit of softened raw honey. Organic eggs are always best. If you leave this in for about ten minutes before rinsing, it will leave your hair feeling soft and luxurious.
Adding pure essential oils to any of these natural shampoo can help to cleanse, soften or clarify your hair. You can try lemon oil, lavender, peppermint or tea tree oil.
