Scientifically, the LOC method for natural hair is one of the best ways to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. If your hair is chronically dry and brittle, this will be especially good for you. This is also a good way to protect your hair from the harsh winter weather,
LOC stands for Liquid, Oil and Cream. It’s a very simple regimen, and after consistent use, you may quickly see results.
Here’s how you can start the LOC Method.
Step 1. Moisturize your hair with a water-based moisturizer or a water-based conditioner to your hair. The key word here is “water,” which is the key to all moisturizing. You could use plain water for this step, if you like. No cream, oil or butter can moisturize your hair, only water can. But they can seal the moisture in, which leads us to step two.
Step 2. Oil will seal the water molecules into the strands of your hair. Use the oil of your choice: grape seed, coconut, olive, jojoba, avocado or almond oil are all fine choices. Section off your hair and use a few drops of oil in each section.
Step 3. Top it all off with a cream. Use shea butter, coconut butter or a store-bought cream that works with you to lock in all of the moisture. You could also use a leave-in conditioner as your sealant.
Naturals who have used this method have said that their hair retains moisture for days after the initial application! Utilize this method after every shampoo, or a few times a week at a minimum. Try out the LOC method for natural hair for at least a couple of weeks to see if it works for you. You could also experiment with which products you use for each step.
