For the product junkies among us, it’s fun to try out different conditioners and moisturizers from time to time (or all the time!). The products you use will really depend on the type of hair you have. One woman with 4A hair in the back and 4C in the front may need to use different products than a woman with 4A in the front and 4C in the back! You really need to experiment and see which products work best for your hair. That being said, here is my list for the top 10 African American hair products. These products are best for kinky, coily hair.
For those occasional shampoo days, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Castile Soap is ideal. It’s completely natural and organic and comes there are an array of scents to choose from. Citrus and peppermint are my two favorites.
When it comes to conditioner, Carol’s Daughter has one really wonderful product called Black Vanilla Hair Smoothie. It features several natural oils as well as shea butter and is wonderful for detangling.
Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp is a lovely leave-in conditioner, especially good because it has honey in it, which locks in moisture. Another leave-in conditioner that works nicely is Madre Labs, Leave-In Conditioner. It has some really nice ingredients, such as aloe vera, acai, goji berry, pomegranate and seabuckthorn. It won’t replace your regular conditioner, though, because it’s quite thin and not suitable for detangling.
The Great Detangler is one of the best detanglers around. This is a good product to have around.
Organics Olive Oil Replenisher is my deep conditioner of choice. It won’t put a huge dent in your wallet and it works well. It will keep your hair soft and supple, and definitely deserves to make it to the top 10 African American hair products list.
Where can I find the Great Detangler??
What do I use to loosen my roots of my hair? My roots are tight. HELP!
