We all work extremely hard to keep our hair healthy. Some of us a little harder than others, or let me say, some are more willing to TRY just about anything to maintain their tresses. Here are some bizarre treatments individuals have done to help maintain, style, or grow their hair longer.
I promise you this isn’t a bunch of bull…..well, then again…..anyways, truth be told, indeed bull semen has become an increasingly popular treatment method for a swanky UK beauty salon. Supposedly the Angus bull sperm is incredibly rich in natural proteins that absorbs deeply into the hair shaft helping nourish it from the inside. The salon staff member’s say their clients rave about how they never have witnessed their hair appear so shiny until after this treatment. Subsequently through the proposed strong nourishing and revitalizing result, it has acquired a nickname of “Viagra for the hair.” Think this treatment comes cheap? The price for this kind of procedure is above $100.Whooa!
Over the last several years there has been some hype in the natural black hair community regarding Monistat for increased hair growth potential. Now I know this may sound utterly ridiculous, however several women have claimed their hair have grown more than the average ½ per month after using this vaginal intended cream on their scalp.
The active ingredient in Monistat is Miconazole Nitrate, which purpose is to treat fungal infections. Many believe if you foster a healthy scalp you will create a great growth environment that can increase your hair growth potential.
Reported by Medical professional TJ Darden, a board accredited medical doctor and Health Director for Bon Secours Connect Care Hamton Roads with interest in minority health, lifestyle medicine, and global health there hasn’t been any scientific studies that proves Monistate increases hair growth, cure tinea capitis or fungal hair infections.
She believes the reason the hair may grow is due to Monistat capability to destroy fungal related scalp infections that could bring about hair growth, not as a result of some implicit property of Monistat.
She also believes there are alternative to treat problems of the scalp like seborrheic dermatitis or tinea capitis. One can use a sulfide shampoo like Selsun Blue or ketoconazole shampoo such as Nizoral.

I’ve tried using beer to sub a clear “gloss” since I wanted to use natural
ingredients. I pour onto dry hair, massage scalp and continue until bottle
is empty. Allow to sit in hair for 30 mins, put on shower cap. Rinse hair
and condition following regular regiment. The result is unbelievable
glossy, build-up free, smooth shiny hair!! I do this once, maybe bi-monthly.
Hope this was helpful!!
Thanks for sharing!! I’m down for trying this one 🙂

Here in Argentina people use (separately) yogurt, mayonnaise and olive oil or egg white, or beer, but the weirdest thing being sold here for decades is the placenta of turtle … it sounds totally gross but, … placenta should be call by its name egg white … that is what it really is (and not so gross, if you don’t tink on baby turtles). I haven’t weshad my hair in four weeks. I live in Nashville which lies in a basin– meaning the air is not, well… we have really bad allergies here, and sometimes you can’t see the skyline in the summer. But my hair looks, feels, and smells fine. I went to a bar the other night and came home reeking. The next morning I rinsed my hair, and I am holding the lengths to my nose and sniffing– nothing. Scroo poo. My hair used to oil up to disgustingness after two days. Now it seems… ahhh… relieved. It has succeeded with… Read more »
I haven’t used beer on my locs for ages, so thanks for the reminder! I’m going back to using it. As I remember, the best beer to use is one with a lot of sediment; namely, Jamaican, Belgian and German beers. Massage through your hair and leave under a shower cap while you have your bath/shower.
Wow, I have heard of the Monistat before and I know some women who used it and say that it does grow their hair, but I never tried it. But Ive also have heard of vitamin E supplements, prenatal vitamins to work. Which the prenatal may do cause when I was pregnant It did grow my hair and nails.
